The most exciting scenes of medieval strategy games are those that recreate the assaults on castles. Stronghold Crusader II only focuses on the same ones so that the whole game itself becomes much more interesting avoiding long exploration processes.
Your castle will be under constant attack, so you must do everything possible to both protect the structure and save the king's life in case you choose the mode that gives great importance to that character. Managing resources becomes a key aspect to provide defensive elements to the castle and make it resist a greater number of attacks that you can repel by controlling a whole platoon of fighters, which can also be managed by another player who collaborates through online multiplayer.
Every unit of Stronghold Crusader II is relevant and must be treated properly to deal with enemies, from the archer able to kill at a distance to the knights who will remain in the formation chosen by you. There's no point in deploying an impressive army if your castle isn't built properly, so you'll have to shape many structures and fortifications in general that can withstand the enemy's clutches.
